Will Writing Blogs Really Help My Business?

YES! You need a blog.

And yes! It needs to be SEO optimized. I know, this makes you want to cry; and as I'm writing this blog right now, I feel your pain.

As a business owner, it can be hard to put energy into something that doesn't bring instant results. Time is money, and no one gets that more than the self-employed.

And...spending time on the infrastructure of your business increases traffic to your website, generates leads, and increases conversion rates. The nitty-gritty of it pays off in the long run.

It's time to invest, and blogs are a great place to start.

A blog establishes your business as an expert in its field.

When you regularly blog about topics related to your business, you quickly establish yourself and your company as experts in that field. This is especially true if you're creating original, well-researched content that provides value to readers.

Over time, this will make potential customers more likely to trust your business when they need your products or services; you have shown them that you know what you are talking about.

A blog helps build relationships with potential customers.

My dad went to the same gas station every time he filled his tank because he knew the owner and wanted to support him. I am not sure what that business owner did to gain my father's confidence, but he had a committed customer for life.

A successful blog can do the same for you. It speaks to your ideal client, draws them in, and builds a relationship with your business.

And a client that is invested in your business will come back.

When you provide blog content that is relevant and informative, clients will begin to see you as a valuable online resource—someone they can trust for advice and guidance.

These relationships are crucial for businesses looking to convert leads into customers down the road.

A blog gives your business a human face.

When customers visit your business website, they want to know there are real people behind it—people who care about their needs and are passionate about what they do. A blog is a perfect platform for giving your business a human face and personality.

By sharing stories, images, and other content on your blog, you can show potential customers that there's a real team of people working hard on behalf of their best interests.

Blogging helps improve your site's search engine ranking

When you type a query into a search engine like Google, the search engine looks at all the websites that contain information relevant to your search. It then ranks those websites based on a number of factors, including the quality and quantity of the content, the site's popularity, and how often the site is updated.

So how does this relate to blogging? Well, every time you publish a new blog post, you're adding new content to your website. This tells the search engine that your site is active and relevant, which can help improve your ranking.

In addition, if people find your blog posts helpful or informative, they will share them with others. This helps increase the visibility of your website, which can also lead to a higher ranking.

Finally, when you include keywords in your blog posts, you're helping the search engine understand what your website is about. This makes it more likely that your website will show up in relevant searches, which can also lead to more traffic and a higher ranking.

Still need convincing?

Blogs give you a chance to show off your personality.

A well-written blog post can give potential customers a glimpse into the personality of your company, which can help them decide if they want to do business with you.

By giving your readers a behind-the-scenes look at what makes your business tick, your clients will feel more connected to your company and will be more likely to do business with you in the future.

Blogging gives you an opportunity to connect with other businesses.

If you mention other businesses in your blog posts (in a positive way), they may return the favor by mentioning or linking to your business on their own websites or social media channels.

This strategy can help increase traffic to your website, grow awareness of your brand and reach new audiences.

Helps you stay top-of-mind with customers and prospects alike.

If people see your business's name frequently (through blog posts, social media updates, and other content marketing), they're more likely to think of you first when they need what you sell, rather than your competitors who aren't as active online.

Allows you to experiment with a different marketing strategy.

A blog gives you a low-risk way to try out new marketing ideas and strategies without making major changes to other parts of your marketing mix.

For example, if you want to see how video could work for your business but aren't ready to commit to creating videos on a regular basis, you could experiment by embedding a few videos in some of your blog posts. Based on the results, you could decide whether or not video is something worth pursuing further.

It's relatively inexpensive and easy to get started.

In comparison to other marketing channels, starting a blog is relatively inexpensive. And once you get the hang of it, creating new posts isn't overly time-consuming.

Of course, like any marketing activity, blogging takes some effort and planning upfront, but once you get into a groove, it should become part of your weekly or bi-weekly routine.

Customers are more likely to return to a website that has a blog

One of the most important reasons for blog posts is that your customers will keep coming back for more.

Frequent Updates Keep Things Fresh

One of the main reasons customers are more likely to return to a website that has a blog is because they know that the content will be updated frequently.

Blogs Give Customers a Reason to Return

You will become part of their online community.

For example, let's say you own an online store that sells women's clothing. If you write a blog post about the latest fashion trends, your customers will know that they can come back to your site for information on what's new and popular.

You can use your blog to provide information, answer customer questions, or even just entertain your readers. No matter what type of business you have, there's bound to be some type of content that would be relevant and interesting to your customers.

As you can see, there are many good reasons to have a blog on your website.

If you're not sure where to start, try thinking about what type of content would be most relevant and interesting to your target audience. Once you get started, you'll likely find that it's easier than you thought it would be—and your customers will appreciate the fresh content and valuable information that you're providing.
